Psychosocial counselling
Psychosocial counselling (PSB) is available free of charge to all students at Thuringian universities who feel the need to talk to a neutral person about themselves, their situation and their problems, and to receive help and support.
Those seeking advice - individuals and couples - can contact us with both study-related problems and personal conflict situations. Psychosocial counselling is also offered in English on request.
You can make an appointment for a consultation with our advisors by e-mail or by phone as well as in person during office/registration hours.
Should it not be possible for you to contact us in person or by telephone, you are welcome to do so in writing. The writing-based online consultation offers you the opportunity to talk about your questions anonymously and securely. Please note that not all advisors can be reached there as contact persons.
The registration hours are only for making appointments.
The counselling sessions always take place at individually arranged appointments with a advisor.

Currently personal contacts are possible again: you can still make appointments by email or phone during registration hours.
We are the appropriate partner for you if you:
- suffer from learning and work disorders,
- have difficulty socializing with other people,
- experience conflicts with parents, in a partnership or shared apartment which are stressful for you: Among other things, we offer mediation to these students.
- often feel overstrained and insecure,
- are distressed by exam nerves and other types of fear,
- are affected by depressive moods,
- are at risk of addiction or addicted (Internet, drugs, food...),
- often doubt yourself and/or your studies,
- have the feeling that your studies are turning into a never-ending story: Then we offer graduation groups in which individual steps to a successful completion of studies are discussed and determined. Helpful recommendations and support from the group are ensured.
- need information about available psychotherapy.
During the initial consultation, you and the counsellor can discuss your concerns in detail. Here we will also discuss what goal you associate with the counselling and in what form support is possible within a psychosocial counselling program. The first contact may be followed by further counselling appointments.
The goal of counselling is to address your very specific situation individually and appropriately and to support you in managing your crisis on your own. Of course, the counsellors are bound by confidentiality. If you wish, you can also choose to remain anonymous. To ensure the necessary, protected relationship of trust, we only offer psychosocial counselling by appointment.
